Profile of Sasayama

●Sasayama City

●Sasayama City
mapSasayama City is located in the middle eastern part of Hyogo prefecture and is the second largest city next to Kobe. In April 1999, the four towns of the Taki district (Sasayama, Nishiki, Tannan and Konda) were merged and Sasayama City was inaugurated. The city's symbol is the Sasayama Castle Ruins. Strategically located in the central part of the city, the castle has become the base for administrative, sightseeing, business, economic, cultural and other activities.
Sasayama City is blessed with fertile soil where rice, the staple food, is produced. The big difference between night and day temperatures, as well as the special climate and natural resources, are suitable for the cultivation of the city's numerous products that are renowned all over the country, such as black soybeans, yam, chestnut, matsutake mushroom, tea and others. Over two million tourists visit Sasayama every year for its special products and the annual seasonal events conducted in various places in the city that exhibit its rich natural resources.
