ACCIDENTS/ROBBERY FIRE/EMERGENCY 2-a
●Police No. 110 for emergency/urgent reports
□ When you encounter a traffic accident, robbery or other emergency situation, call 110 and you will be connected to the local police department.
□ When you call from a public phone, no coin or phone card is needed.
□ In Japan, there is a police box where a police officer is permanently stationed. You can seek assistance for various matters like lost items, directions and others. If there is no police officer stationed at the police box, you may call the Sasayama Police Department （☎079-552-0110）
□ Be sure to call the police when you are involved in a traffic accident.
□ Write down the following information about the victim or wrongdoer when you witness or encounter a traffic accident:
・the person’s name, address and contact person
・the vehicle’s registration number
・the person’s insurance company and insurance details
Requirements for Traffic Accident Insurance
Contact the insurance company after calling the police.
A traffic accident certificate is needed for insurance purposes so be sure to get an application form
from the police and do the necessary procedures.
● Fire Department No. 119 for emergency/urgent reports
□ Call 119 and you will be connected to the local fire department in case of fire, injury, sudden illness or other emergencies.
□ In case of fire, shout ' kajida ' then ask for help from your neighbor.
□ Give a signal to the ambulance or fire engine when they reach your place.
□ The ambulance is free of charge but you have to pay for medical examination at the hospital. Don’t forget to bring cash and your health insurance card.
□ In the ambulance, there is a checklist (translated into 17 languages for
example English, Chinese,
Tagalog, Portuguese) that should be filled up by the concerned person or attendant.
□ When the hospital is closed at night or during the holidays, you may call the Sasayama City fire department head office（☎079-594-1119）and they will introduce you to a medical institution.
＊『EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBERS』 should be pasted near your telephone or on a place where it can be easily seen!
