□ Typhoons bring strong winds and heavy rain. The typhoon season runs from July through October.

□ Earthquakes sometimes strike in Japan. Secure your furniture so that they do
not topple and avoid placing objects on top of high shelves as these may fall
down.
□ When an earthquake hits, extinguish the fire from your heater and gas
appliances and turn off the main valve for gas.
□ If the shaking is violent, take cover under a desk or table and protect your
head with a cushion.
□ Ensure you have an escape route by opening the windows or front door.
Evacuate to an emergency shelter when the situation becomes dangerous.
□ It is important to keep calm and pay attention to information on the radio and
from the city hall.

□ Gas leakage can lead to fire and explosion.
□ If you smell gas, fasten the main valve and open your windows. Never use
the ventilation fan. Sometimes an electric switch can cause ignition and
explosion so be careful.
