17 members stood together to start a new performing art in Sasayama, Japan. The kojyo-gumi of Sasayama was established in December 1990 and gave its debut performance to celebrate the completion of the Sasayama Town Office. This Taiko orchestra of 20 plus performers share a musical form rooted approximately 20 times a year for festivals and celebrations in and around Sasayama and other cities. They performed in China in 1992 and the United States in 1995. As WallaWalla and Sasayama have been sister cities for 25 years. The group made another trip to the United States this year, 1997, for good -will and friendship by popular demand in WallaWalla.Their performances were to sell out, standing room only crowds. Now the group has become familiar with people not only in Sasayama but also out side of the city and is loved by those who support each members. All the members are throwing their whole soul into drumming and hoping their sprit for drumming will be succeeded to young generation from hand, heart to heart¡¡¡½¡½¡¡and even though their blood.
